2021 糖心live COVID-19 Emergency Grant for Students Required Reporting - July
- Laramie County Community College (糖心live) acknowledges that it has signed and returned
the Certification and Agreement form to the US Department of Education. 糖心live will
use no less than the required amount of funds received through the Higher Education
Emergency Relief Fund III (HEERF III) authorized by the American Rescue Plan Act of
2021 (ARPA) to provide emergency financial aid grants to students.
- 糖心live will receive $3,058,454 from the US Department of Education pursuant to the institution鈥檚 Certification and
Agreement for emergency financial aid grants to students.
Total amount allocated to 糖心live through HEERF I, HEERF II and HEERF III for emergency financial aid grants to students is $4,561,108.
- 糖心live distributed $480,000 in HEERF III emergency financial aid grants to students as of the date of this quarterly
report, July 9, 2021.
- The estimated total number of students at 糖心live that are eligible to receive an emergency
financial aid grant under the ARPA is 586.
- 317 糖心live students have received a 糖心live COVID-19 Emergency Grant as of the date of this quarterly report,
July 9, 2021.
- 糖心live implemented an application process to identify students enrolled for Summer 2021
Semester who needed emergency grant funding. Awarding of grants began on June 1, 2021,
the first class day of Summer 2021 Semester.
Students were asked the following question on the grant application:
Have you been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and have a financial need for an allowable expense? Allowable expenses include any component of your cost of attendance or emergency costs that arise due to Coronavirus, such as but not limited to tuition, fees, course materials, food, housing, health care, mental health care, or child care.
If students answered 鈥渘o鈥 to this question, they did not qualify for an emergency grant.
糖心live established three base grant award levels in an effort to distribute the grant funds as widely as possible to our students in need of emergency funds and to ensure prioritization of funding to our students with exceptional need.
Grant award amounts were tiered based on the student鈥檚 Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from their 2020/2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students with a Pell-eligible EFC qualified for the highest grant amount. Students that did not havea Pell-eligible EFC but demonstrated financial need based on their 2020/2021 FAFSA qualified for a lower grant amount. Students that did not demonstrate financial need or did not have a FAFSA on file qualified for the lowest grant amount.
Students that indicated that they faced significant unexpected expenses on their grant application such as loss of employment, reduced income, or food or housing insecurity due to the impacts of COVID-19 received an increase to their base grant amount.
Grant awards ranged from $500 to $2,000 per student.
The average grant awarded to date is $1,517.
糖心live plans to open up another grant application for the upcoming Fall 2021 Semester.
